Constant Scribbler turned 10 (+1)

This post would’ve read much better if I’d remembered to celebrate my tenth anniversary of starting the damn thing. Because symmetry, equal numbers and units of ten (oh my) are way sexier.

To be honest, I’d actually forgotten when I started Constant Scribbler until a disastrous WordPress update happened and I lost everything. Luckily, I backed up everything, reuploaded the blog and here we are: 4040 days later (how’s that for symmetry and sexy-AF units of ten!).

Not so constant but still scribbling

I am consistently inconsistent with this blog of mine. I should change the name to ‘inconstant scribbler’ but I can’t be bothered faffing around with a new domain name.

So, my baby blog has turned eleven in 2020. And during the Covid-19 pandemic no less. A disease that has seen the global lockdowns and has severely disrupted the chain supply of toilet paper. I think we can all agree that’s a pretty shitty birthday.

'2020 Cancelled' announcement meme
I still think 2016 sucked. Just saying.

And to make matters worse, I like, the terrible parent blogger I am, missed this momentous occasion, and am now trying to make up for it with promises of an all-you-can-eat trip to Pizza Express and a BTS concert tickets.

All jokes aside, I can’t believe I’ve kept this blog for as long as I have. There have been many times over the years, when I considered packing it all in and closing the blog down for good. But I could never bring myself to do it. Nostalgia and dogged stubbornness wouldn’t let me.

Starting the blog… again

So, here I am again. Writing this blog.

What will happen? Who knows? Will I still be as consistently inconsistent in another ten years? *shrugs*

Presently, all I can promise is more randomness, a light dusting of geekery and probably a lot of posts about my novel in progress. And of course, my enduring love affair with caffeine – because some things NEVER change.
